Search engines have become an integral part of the blogging experience, apart from social media platforms like FaceBook, Twitter and Pinterest, the only other major way that bloggers get traffic is through a search engine.

Traditionally, search engines, use parameters specified in the robots.txt file to determine the frequency with which to crawl a website. A better approach is to notify search engines that new content has been published. Out of the box, WordPress has this feature automated.

WordPress notifies some major ping services or search engines on post creation and updates. We can, however, extend the list by adding some more ping services. Updating ping list is one of the essential settings to configure after installing WordPress. In this post, we will be providing a list of ping services and showing you how to setup your website to ping such services of changes.
